Marcel, an assistant in a jeweler’s shop, falls hard for a woman who has already marked the store for theft. Fernandel is the smitten clerk, whose fascination with Arletty’s Loulou draws him into the orbit of her partner Jo (Michel Simon) and their plan to rob his employer. What begins as infatuation quickly turns into an awkward criminal entanglement, with Marcel caught between loyalty to the shop and his desire to stay close to Loulou. Made in France on the eve of World War II, Fric-Frac balances romantic confusion, petty crime, and class comedy around a naïve man in over his head.
