Facing another stretch in prison, small-time Boston gunrunner Eddie “Fingers” Coyle starts feeding information on stolen guns to federal agents while still supplying weapons to a crew of bank robbers. Robert Mitchum is Eddie, an aging hood working the edges of the Irish mob and trying to stay useful to everyone around him. Peter Boyle and Richard Jordan move through the same web of bars, back rooms, and quiet meetings, where favors, introductions, and loose talk carry as much consequence as the weapons changing hands.
