On the outskirts of Tokyo, Osamu gets by on odd jobs and shoplifting, sharing a cramped home with a poor, close-knit household living on the margins. Lily Franky is the easygoing father figure at its center, and Sakura Andô is the wife who reluctantly agrees to take in a little girl found alone in the cold. As the child becomes part of their daily routine, the family’s fragile balance starts to give way, and buried secrets begin to surface. The story stays close to daily survival — stolen groceries, packed rooms, shared meals — while keeping its focus on who gets to belong under one roof.
