Repulsion

DramaHorrorThriller105 min

A young London manicurist with a pathological fear of men begins to unravel when she’s left alone in the flat she shares with her sister. Catherine Deneuve is Carole, withdrawn and increasingly cut off from the world as ordinary encounters, unpaid rent, and the empty apartment press in on her. With her sister away on holiday, Carole retreats further indoors, where cracks in the walls, intrusive sounds, and visions blur what is happening and what she imagines. Roman Polanski centers the film on Carole’s fractured point of view, with Ian Hendry and John Fraser among the men who move through her tightening, unstable world.
