Desk-bound NYPD detectives Allen Gamble and Terry Hoitz spend their days buried in paperwork while the department’s headline-grabbing heroes take all the glory. Will Ferrell is Gamble, the quieter half of the pair, and Mark Wahlberg’s Hoitz is a frustrated partner who wants a chance to matter. When a seemingly minor case starts opening into something much bigger, the two overlooked cops finally get a shot at proving themselves. Adam McKay’s film turns the usual buddy-cop setup sideways, keeping one foot in police-procedural chaos and the other in workplace rivalry, bruised egos, and New York City absurdity.
