After a routine traffic stop puts them on a cartel’s radar, LAPD partners Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala spend their days in South Central Los Angeles answering calls, making arrests, and edging into something far bigger than street crime. Jake Gyllenhaal is Taylor, one half of a patrol-car friendship that drives the film, with Michael Peña’s Zavala beside him on the beat and at home. Shot in a documentary-style mix of dashboard, handheld, and body-level footage, the story stays close to the officers’ daily work and the pressure building around them, with Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez in their off-duty lives.
