Seventeen-year-old Ben travels to Marrakech to see the father he barely knows, only to find old resentment waiting for him. Samuel Schneider is Ben, a restless teenager dropped into his father’s world while Ulrich Tukur’s Heinrich is a successful German theater director in the city to stage a play. After a bitter falling-out, Ben drifts away from the rehearsals and into the medina’s back streets and nightclubs, where he meets Karima and follows her far beyond the city. As the trip pulls him across unfamiliar terrain, Ben is forced to confront both his father’s failures and his own place in a country that feels at once inviting and disorienting.
