Seventeen-year-old Simon Spier has a secret he hasn’t shared with his family or friends: he’s gay, and he’s fallen for an anonymous classmate he knows only through emails. Nick Robinson is Simon, juggling high school friendships, the pressure of coming out, and a classmate’s threat to expose him before he’s ready. Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel appear as Simon’s parents, part of the warm, busy home life he’s afraid of changing. As Simon tries to figure out who’s writing to him, crushes, rumors, and misunderstandings start to ripple through his friend group and the hallways around him.
