Taron Egerton is Elton John in a musical retelling of the singer’s early life, following him from his days as piano prodigy Reginald Dwight at the Royal Academy of Music to his emergence as a major pop star in 1960s and 1970s Britain. Along the way, Jamie Bell’s Bernie Taupin becomes a crucial collaborator, shaping the songs and public persona that carry Elton into fame. Built around Elton John’s music, the film moves between backstage pressure, family strain, and the larger-than-life image taking shape under the spotlight.
