The Shining
DramaHorrorThriller146 min
Writer Jack Torrance takes a winter caretaker job at Colorado’s Overlook Hotel, moving into the empty mountain resort with his wife Wendy and young son Danny just as snow seals them off from the outside world. Jack Nicholson is Jack, trying to work in the hotel’s vast, silent rooms, while Shelley Duvall’s Wendy watches the family’s new start turn increasingly unstable. Stanley Kubrick’s film threads together ghostly visions, Danny’s uncanny flashes of perception, and the Overlook’s maze-like corridors as the isolation deepens and the hotel begins to press in on all three.
