Grace of My Heart
ComedyDrama116 min
Philadelphia teenager Edna Buxton wins a talent contest in the early rock ’n’ roll years, reinvents herself as Denise Waverly, and heads to New York chasing a singing career. Illeana Douglas is Denise, whose plans shift when her own records stall but a sharp record producer spots her gift for writing songs. Joel Millner (John Turturro) teams her with struggling songwriter Howard Caszatt, and together they navigate the studios, false starts, and changing sounds of the 1960s pop business. As Denise’s career takes shape behind the scenes, the film tracks the industry machinery that turns heartbreak and ambition into hit records.
