Returning to London from a trip abroad, businessman Lee Warren suspects his wife has been unfaithful. Eric Portman’s Warren follows the trail to the man named in her correspondence and arranges a killing to look like suicide, certain he has engineered the perfect crime. Greta Gynt is the wife at the center of his obsession, as jealousy gives way to calculation and revenge. Made in postwar Britain, the film unfolds in apartments, offices, and late-night London interiors, where clipped exchanges and small details steadily tighten the trap Warren thinks he controls.
