Detroit Metal City
ComedyDrama104 min
Ken'ichi Matsuyama is Soichi Negishi, a soft-spoken young musician who comes to Tokyo dreaming of stylish Swedish pop and winds up fronting the death metal sensation Detroit Metal City. Under layers of makeup and the name Johannes Krauser II, he’s a snarling stage demon with a knack for provoking crowds, even though he hates the band’s crude image and the persona that made him famous. The comedy runs on the split between Negishi’s private self and his public alter ego, building from rehearsals, concerts, and the increasingly hard task of keeping those two lives from crashing into each other.
