After abandoning his car in a gridlocked Los Angeles traffic jam, Bill Foster sets out on foot to reach his family on his daughter’s birthday, and every stop along the way turns his simmering anger into open violence. Michael Douglas is Foster, a laid-off defense worker whose run-ins at a convenience store, on city streets, and in a fast-food restaurant leave a widening trail across the city. Robert Duvall’s Martin Prendergast, a retiring LAPD detective, begins piecing together the incidents as what starts like a bad day becomes a citywide manhunt.
