Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

CrimeDocumentaryDrama95 min

After his close friend Andrew Bagby is murdered soon after ending a relationship, filmmaker Kurt Kuenne begins assembling home videos, interviews, and memories into a record for the son Andrew will never meet. Then the case takes a sharper turn: the prime suspect, Shirley Jane Turner, announces that she is pregnant with Andrew’s child and later gives birth to Zachary. What begins as a personal memorial becomes an investigation into the killing and a fight over where Zachary belongs. As Andrew’s family pushes for answers and access to the boy, the film follows the case through grief, legal battles, and the growing urgency around a child tied to the crime.
