After decades on the margins of heavy metal, Canadian band Anvil heads back into the studio for another shot at the career they imagined as teenagers. Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner made a pact at 14 to rock together forever; now in their fifties, they’re still chasing it after a disastrous European tour while recording a 13th album. The film tracks the gap between Anvil’s influence and its fortunes, with musicians including Lars Ulrich and Lemmy reflecting on a band that helped shape the sound of Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax.
