Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse
Documentary96 min
As Francis Ford Coppola pushes Apocalypse Now through a disastrous 1970s shoot in the Philippines, this documentary tracks a production buckling under bad weather, rising costs, nearby war and repeated setbacks. Built around footage gathered by Eleanor Coppola and later interviews, it follows Coppola as the film threatens to undo both his life and his career. Martin Sheen appears amid the chaos, alongside John Milius, George Lucas and other collaborators, as the making of a landmark war movie turns into its own story of exhaustion, risk and obsession.
