The Diary of Diana B
DramaWar88 min
In wartime Croatia, Austrian humanitarian Diana Budisavljević begins keeping a record as she mounts a rescue effort for children held in concentration camps under the fascist Ustaše regime. What starts as an attempt to send aid grows into a dangerous operation to pull thousands of mostly Serbian children out of the camp system and find them safety, papers, and places to go. Every step depends on permissions from hostile authorities, help from fragile networks, and decisions made under constant pressure. Through Diana’s work, the film follows how a private act of conscience turns into a vast struggle against bureaucracy, indifference, and the machinery of war.
