Ay Lav Yu

Comedy102 min

After finishing his education, a young man returns to his village in eastern Turkey with his American fiancée, expecting a homecoming and a wedding. Instead, the visit turns into a collision of languages, customs, and family expectations as village life meets an outsider who does not know its rules. Old habits, local politics, and religious differences crowd into the couple’s plans, and small misunderstandings keep growing into public chaos. As the village tries to make sense of the match, the story uses the family’s uproar to poke at cultural stereotypes and wider tensions shaped by the post-9/11 world. Written and directed by Sermiyan Midyat, it keeps the focus on the couple’s increasingly complicated arrival.
