How the War Started on My Island
ComedyDramaWar97 min
On a small Croatian island at the start of the Yugoslav wars, a local army barracks becomes the center of a standoff. The soldiers inside refuse to surrender, the townspeople outside want the weapons gone, and what should be a military handover turns into a bitter, absurd siege in the middle of ordinary island life. As tempers rise, neighbors, officials, and family members are pulled into the deadlock, each trying to force a solution without setting off bloodshed. The film keeps tightening the pressure between farce and danger, showing how bureaucracy, pride, and panic can turn a local dispute into a portrait of a country sliding into war.
