Telling Lies in America
Drama101 min
In 1960s Cleveland, 17-year-old Hungarian immigrant Karchy Jonas (Brad Renfro) rigs a radio station’s high-school popularity contest and catches the attention of Billy Magic, the DJ he idolizes. Kevin Bacon is Billy, a local radio star who pulls Karchy into his orbit as a gofer, giving him a close look at the money, favors, and payola moving behind the station’s hit records. Calista Flockhart’s Diney, Karchy’s co-worker, helps set his first gamble in motion as hero worship gives way to a sharper view of the entertainment world.
