To stop a terrorist plot, FBI agent Sean Archer agrees to an experimental face transplant that lets him assume the identity of Castor Troy, the criminal he’s hunted for years. John Travolta is Archer, carrying a personal vendetta into the mission, while Nicolas Cage’s Troy turns the plan inside out when he wakes up early and takes Archer’s face for himself. What follows sends the chase through prisons, hospitals, safe houses, and the lives each man has stolen. Directed by John Woo, the film folds its identity-swap premise into operatic gunfights, doves, slow motion, and a constant tug-of-war between cop and psychopath.
