The Laramie Project
CrimeDrama97 min
In the aftermath of Matthew Shepard’s 1998 murder, members of New York’s Tectonic Theatre Project travel to Laramie, Wyoming, gathering interviews that reveal a town divided by grief, fear, faith, and homophobia. Rather than reenact the crime itself, the film builds its story from the residents’ own words, moving between the visiting troupe and the people they meet. Nestor Carbonell and Christina Ricci are part of the large ensemble, with Dylan Baker among the actors taking on multiple voices drawn from the original transcripts.
