Adonis Johnson never knew his father, Apollo Creed, but he’s drawn to the ring all the same, leaving his old life behind to chase boxing in Philadelphia. Michael B. Jordan is Adonis, a young fighter trying to build a name that isn’t overshadowed by the one he inherited. The person he seeks out is Rocky Balboa, and Sylvester Stallone’s former champion is reluctant to step back into the gym as trainer and mentor. Ryan Coogler’s film carries the Rocky legacy forward through bruising workouts, family history, and the pressure that comes with fighting under the Creed name.
