Liverpool dockworker Jude heads to America in search of the father he’s never known and lands in the upheaval of the late 1960s, where college life, street protests, and the Vietnam War keep colliding. Jim Sturgess is Jude, while Evan Rachel Wood’s Lucy begins as a sheltered student and is drawn into the anti-war movement as their romance is pulled through marches, arrests, and widening political divides. Directed by Julie Taymor, the film builds its love story around Beatles songs, shifting from Liverpool and campus rooms to Greenwich Village bohemia and surreal, psychedelic musical sequences, with appearances from performers including Bono and Joe Cocker.
