Michael Pitt is Blake, a famous rock musician retreating to a large house in the woods as friends, associates, and industry figures keep pressing in for money, attention, and access. Loosely inspired by Kurt Cobain, the film follows Blake through disconnected days of wandering, muttered conversations, and stalled attempts to work while the people around him circle his fame. Lukas Haas and Asia Argento are part of the uneasy orbit around him, with Gus Van Sant shaping the story as a fictionalized portrait of isolation, addiction, and the numbing routine of celebrity at the point where everyday life starts to come apart.
