Big Eyes
CrimeDocumentaryDramaRomance106 min
In the late 1950s, painter Margaret Keane finds her big-eyed portraits turning into a national craze after her husband starts taking credit for them. Amy Adams is Margaret, a gifted artist whose work is sold and celebrated under another name, while Christoph Waltz's Walter Keane proves far more comfortable with the spotlight. As the paintings spread from local curiosity to pop-culture phenomenon, the couple's marriage becomes bound up with a public fraud that Margaret struggles to challenge. Directed by Tim Burton, the film follows the rise of the Keane image through the art world and mass-market America of the late '50s and early '60s.
