Matthew McConaughey’s Ed Pekurny is a video store clerk who agrees to let a TV network film his life around the clock, turning an ordinary day-to-day routine into a national obsession. Once the cameras move in, his relationships and private moments become public entertainment, and fame starts reshaping the life he thought he was simply putting on display. Jenna Elfman is part of the world suddenly caught in Ed’s nonstop broadcast, as the film follows the messier side of instant celebrity and audience voyeurism. Ron Howard directs this 1999 comedy-drama with one foot in media satire and the other in Ed’s increasingly exposed personal life.
