More Than a Miracle
ComedyFantasyRomance115 min
Isabella, a headstrong peasant from Naples, catches the eye of a Spanish prince who has been ordered to choose a wife from seven Italian princesses. Sophia Loren is Isabella, with Omar Sharif’s Rodrigo Ferrante y Davalos torn between royal duty and his fixation on a woman far below his station. As the match turns into a fairy-tale tangle of spells, witches, and improbable obstacles, Rodrigo also has to answer to his formidable mother (Dolores del Río), who has very different plans for his marriage. The film folds romance and court intrigue into a playful, magical fable.
