Paxton (Jay Hernandez) and his college friend Josh (Derek Richardson) are backpacking across Europe when a fellow traveler steers them to a Slovakian hostel rumored to offer exactly what they’re looking for: cheap indulgence, willing company, and no questions asked. The promised detour turns into a trap, as the town’s hospitality gives way to deception, captivity, and organized sadism. Eli Roth builds the first stretch around sleazy backpacker tourism and creeping mistrust before the violence turns graphic. Barbara Nedeljaková and Jana Kaderabková are among the women who pull the Americans further into a place that has been engineered for strangers to disappear.
