As Newsnight chases a booking no one else can land, Billie Piper’s producer Sam McAlister pushes through tense negotiations with Buckingham Palace to secure Prince Andrew for a BBC interview. Once the cameras are up, Emily Maitlis (Gillian Anderson) prepares for a high-pressure exchange that will put the prince’s public account under unusual scrutiny. Inspired by real events, the film follows the women behind the 2019 Newsnight broadcast, from the editorial maneuvering inside the newsroom to the careful preparation before one of Britain’s most talked-about TV interviews.
