When a diphtheria outbreak threatens Nome in the winter of 1925, veteran musher Leonhard Seppala and his lead dog Togo head into the Alaskan wilderness to help bring back life-saving serum. Willem Dafoe is Seppala, a seasoned dogsled trainer facing brutal weather, failing visibility, and the longest, most dangerous stretch of the relay. At home, Julianne Nicholson's Seppala wife has seen Togo's stubborn streak and loyalty since his puppy days, when the undersized husky looked like an unlikely lead. As the mission pushes farther into snow and storm, the film ties the emergency run to the bond between man and dog.
