Seven Days in May

The story

A U.S. Marine colonel uncovers a plan to remove the president and install military rule as Washington edges through a Cold War showdown over nuclear disarmament. Kirk Douglas is the officer who takes his warning to the White House, where Fredric March’s embattled president is already under pressure from Burt Lancaster’s popular general, a national hero with the Joint Chiefs behind him. John Frankenheimer keeps the action moving between the Pentagon, the Oval Office, and a desert training ground as the coup’s timeline closes in and every conversation turns into a test of loyalty, chain of command, and constitutional power.
