During a power blackout, four murderous patients escape a mental hospital and descend on their doctor’s house, trapping his family inside. Jack Palance and Donald Pleasence are among the key faces as the story moves between the institution and the home under siege. What begins with an escape quickly narrows into a nightlong standoff, with the blackout cutting off help and turning hallways, bedrooms, and stairwells into blind corners. The pressure comes from the plain setup: a family sealed in, dangerous intruders closing in, and an entire neighborhood suddenly without light.
