Lowlife Love

DramaRomance110 min

Tetsuo is a one-hit indie director who has spent years hiding behind “artistic integrity” while scraping by on porn shoots and acting-school scams. When he spots a possible way back in two naive newcomers — a young actress and a gifted screenwriter — he starts angling to turn their promise into his own comeback. In the margins of Japan’s indie-film scene, the story follows the petty hustles, vanity, and opportunism around a man who still sees himself as a serious artist. Denden and Kiyohiko Shibukawa are among the faces moving through Tetsuo’s shabby professional orbit.
