Yellow Submarine

ActionAdventureAnimationComedyFamilyFantasyMusical90 min

When the Blue Meanies strip Pepperland of its color and music, the Lord Admiral escapes in a yellow submarine and heads to Liverpool to recruit the Beatles. Their animated counterparts, voiced in part by Paul Angelis and John Clive, travel through strange seas and surreal landscapes on the way back to a kingdom under siege. Built around Beatles songs including “Eleanor Rigby,” “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” the film mixes dry British wordplay with psychedelic pop-art visuals, optical gags, and a version of the band turned into cartoon adventurers.
