In a remote South American town, four men hiding from their pasts take a job no one else will: hauling cases of old dynamite, leaking unstable nitroglycerin, across jungle terrain for an oil company. Roy Scheider is one of the drivers, alongside Bruno Cremer, Francisco Rabal, and Amidou, each stranded far from home and short on options. Directed by William Friedkin, the film builds the mission around poverty, heat, failing machinery, and the constant risk that one bad road or one wrong move could set off the cargo.
