Destination Tokyo

ActionAdventureWar135 min

During World War II, Captain Cassidy leads the U.S.S. Copperfin on a covert mission into Tokyo Bay, where his submarine crew must gather intelligence ahead of the planned bombing of Tokyo. Cary Grant is Cassidy, calm at the center of a boat packed with sailors, specialists, and nerves; John Garfield is one of the enlisted men sharing the cramped quarters and rising strain. As the Copperfin moves through enemy waters, the film tracks both the mechanics of the mission and the shifting bonds among the men below deck, from routine watchstanding to moments of fear when the sub is forced to stay silent and hidden.
