After a serial killer begins targeting men at New York’s underground bars, Al Pacino is Steve Burns, a rookie NYPD officer sent undercover into the city’s leather-bar scene to draw the murderer out. The investigation pulls him through the late-1970s S&M subculture while straining his relationship with Nancy (Karen Allen) and eroding the line between the assignment and his life outside it. Paul Sorvino is the superior officer pressing the case in William Friedkin’s Manhattan-set thriller.
