Blow Out
CrimeDramaMysteryThriller108 min
Jack Terry is a movie sound technician in early-1980s Philadelphia, out gathering effects for a slasher picture when he records a car plunging off a bridge. John Travolta's Jack pulls Sally (Nancy Allen) from the river, then begins to suspect the crash that killed a governor with presidential ambitions was no accident. As he replays his tape and traces what he heard, the mechanics of mics, reels, and dubbing get tangled up with surveillance, political damage control, and a widening conspiracy. Brian De Palma uses studios, city streets, and a crowded nighttime parade as the backdrop for Jack's hunt for proof.
