As President Ulysses S. Grant faces an assassination plot that could reignite the Civil War, government agent James West teams with inventor and master of disguise Artemus Gordon to hunt down Dr. Arliss Loveless. Will Smith is West, the fast-drawing half of the partnership, while Kevin Kline’s Gordon counters with disguises, gadgets, and a more measured approach. Their pursuit moves through the 1860s American West by rail, mixing frontier action with secret-agent missions and elaborate steampunk contraptions as Loveless pushes a plan aimed at splitting the country apart.
