As a zombie epidemic spreads through the Midwest, small-town farmer Wade brings his infected daughter home and refuses to give up on her as the disease slowly takes hold. Arnold Schwarzenegger is Wade, trying to keep Maggie close while quarantine rules tighten around the family. Abigail Breslin's Maggie is still a teenager—withdrawn, angry, and frightened—even as the infection marks her for removal by the authorities. Rather than chase the outbreak on a larger scale, the story stays with one household, where meals, arguments, and long silences continue under the shadow of an illness everyone knows the ending of.
