In a suburban fantasy world where elves live in tract houses and magic has nearly disappeared, teenage brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot get an unexpected chance to spend one more day with their late father. Tom Holland is the shy, uncertain Ian, while Chris Pratt voices Barley, his older brother and eager quest partner. A spell gone wrong sends them out in a van to hunt for the missing piece, following cryptic clues through a modern landscape still dotted with dragons, curses, and old wizard lore as their family tries to catch up with them.
