I Am a Camera
ComedyDrama98 min
In Berlin on the eve of Nazi rule, aspiring English novelist Chris falls into an unusual friendship with Sally Bowles, a cabaret performer whose extravagant tastes keep both of them in constant motion. Laurence Harvey's Chris is an observer as much as a participant, swept along by Sally's schemes, parties, and shifting affections, while Julie Harris is all quicksilver charm and instability as Sally. As their Jewish friend Fritz encounters growing trouble, the film places their bohemian circle against a city where carefree nights and gathering political danger are starting to collide.
