Androcles and the Lion
ActionAdventureComedyFamily98 min
In ancient Rome, a gentle Christian on the run hides in the wilderness and pulls a thorn from a lion’s paw, turning a chance encounter into an unlikely bond. When Androcles is captured and hauled back to the city, that small act of mercy follows him into the arena, where Roman spectacle, religious persecution, and public bloodsport collide. The story sets timid kindness against imperial cruelty, building toward the moment when man and beast meet again under the eyes of the crowd. Drawn from George Bernard Shaw’s play, the film uses that premise to poke at Roman power, martyrdom, and the absurd rituals of authority.
