After a failed suicide attempt leaves him partially disabled, John Savage is Rory, a man adrift who starts spending most of his time in a neighborhood bar full of regulars on the margins. There he falls in with David Morse’s Jerry, the bartender and an injured basketball player whose life shifts when he gets a chance with the Golden State Warriors. As Jerry’s prospects change, Rory and the rest of the bar crowd look to his success as a way out of their own stalled routines, while his relationship with his girlfriend strains under the pressure.
