When a planned West End production of Six Characters in Search of an Author is shut down by pandemic lockdown, David Tennant and Michael Sheen are left trying to rehearse from home over video calls while their increasingly frazzled director, Simon Evans, refuses to let the project die. Tennant and Sheen, as exaggerated versions of themselves, turn each remote session into a tug-of-war of ego, irritation, and interruption, with Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg bringing their home lives into the frame. Filmed during lockdown and built around virtual meetings, the series folds backstage frustration, stalled careers, and thin-skinned actor rivalry into its comedy.
