Charlie Sheen is Zane Zaminsky, a radio astronomer who intercepts a signal that seems to come from extraterrestrial life. Fired soon after reporting it, he starts tracing the transmission on his own, following clues from observatories and satellite dishes to remote desert facilities as a scientific mystery hardens into conspiracy. Lindsay Crouse and Richard Schiff turn up around the edges of Zane’s search, which keeps widening as the evidence suggests the message is only the beginning.
