During World War II, film star Julia travels to the Indo-Burma border to perform for troops at the insistence of her lover, Billimoria, and finds herself drawn to Jemadar Malik, a soldier posted there. Kangana Ranaut is Julia, a screen idol modeled on stunt legend Fearless Nadia, while Saif Ali Khan's Billimoria pulls her between romance and ambition. At the border, Malik (Shahid Kapoor) stands apart from the world she comes from, and the story folds wartime danger, backstage spectacle, and a love triangle into a period setting shaped by the Burma front.
