Varsity Blues
ComedyDramaRomance106 min
When an injury sidelines the star quarterback in football-obsessed West Canaan, Texas, backup Jonathon “Mox” Moxon is pushed into the spotlight with the whole town watching. James Van Der Beek is Mox, a smart, reluctant leader whose irreverent streak puts him at odds with Jon Voight’s hard-driving Coach Bud Kilmer. As the Coyotes regroup, the story tracks the pressure these teenagers carry on and off the field, with Paul Walker’s Lance Harbor looming over the team’s shaken order. Parties, cheerleaders, locker-room friendships, and small-town expectations all crowd in as Mox tries to lead a season that suddenly belongs to him.
